Inspired as a child by the studio visits of the painter Eric Harter, the meeting with Primaballerina Melinda Esterhazy and the artwork and lifestyle of related artist couple Tamara Horáková and Ewald Maurer, it was very early on clear, that Alexandra - Maria was at home in art.
Also a deep connection and love of nature, due to childhood in the countryside close to the woods allowed a creative spirit to develop freely. Before painting primarily, Marcus worked mainly as a artistic director, choreographer and performing artist in the field of Contemporary Dance and Dance Theater for many years.
Featuring highlights such as the extraordinary art project “Fall High – Fly Deep” at Hangar-7 Salzburg (hangar-7.com), supported by Dietrich Mateschitz, or an Environmental Artworkshop with young monks in Kathmandu, supported by Mingyur Rinpoche and many more.
In her multifaceted artistic work, Marcus deals with existential themes of humanity and how our perception, our consciousness and our state of mind shape our way of being.
Her paintings are collected by private artlovers, government fundings and recognized art collectors like Helmut Marko (markohotels.com) and Florian Weitzer (weitzerhotels.com).
Marcus lived and worked many years in Berlin, Germany.
